  • Two Thoughts...

    First Thought

One down three to go.  One tonight, one Tuesday night, and one Thursday afternoon.  And then it's time to party like it's 2007.  (And if you know me, you know what that entails.)

    Second Thought

What the heck is going on here?  We got nut jobs shooting up malls and now churches?  And what the heck is the world coming to that a church has an "armed security staff?'  Who would have thought that a church would have security guards, let alone armed ones?  And this is during dervice no less.  Okay, understandably this church has over 10,000 members, but still, think about walking into church and seeing a uniformed guard standing there with a sidearm strapped to his belt.  (Okay, maybe the guard are a little less conspicuous, but it still makes you think.)

    Bonus Thought:

I am craving a nice, big, fat, juicy, rare steak with creamed spinich and potatos au gratin.

  • Sigh.  Shooting up random innocent people is so stupid and pointless.

Praying for a guy who's shooting up innocent people?  Forget that.  I'd pray that I hit center mass when I return fire.

  • From someone who used to go to a mega church, and still goes on occassion when I have time to, there were security guards, but I can't remember if they were armed or not.  And the ones wearing uniforms were outside the church, anyone inside was in plain clothes and very inconspicuous, and probably unarmed.  I think most of them were off duty Planp Police, and Denton Co. Sheriff Deputies that volunteered their time or might have actually been church members. As you said the world is crazy today, and this is not the first such incident to happen in recent history. Remember the church in Fort Worth, ( not anywhere near as big as the one that got struck this past Sunday) where a guy came in durin a Wed nite youth service and started shooting people.  Remember the two kids at Columbine High. It was known that they targeted some kids because they knew they were Christians. Remember the words to Cassie Burnall, "Do you blieve in God?...Why?"  BOOM!  Some people are very disturbed and "hate" God, Christians, the Church as a whole, etc, and will target such a place.  So unfortunately, especially a large church, which could also be a target for terrorism because of its size, the need for such security exists. I think it says more about the world we live in than it does about the church itself.  I think it is more evidence that we are living in the final days of history as we know it and our Lord's coming is soon.

  • Oh, BTW, the presence of security gurards even outside was not very noticable at all until after the incident at the Ft Worth church and also 9/11.  And yes, there have been a couple of incindents where people were removed from the premises.  I am glad there was and is security there.

  • the red-eye definitely makes it better...

  • i think when a church gets to a certain size, if i was an elder or deacon or someone responsible for making decisions, i'd enlist a few ccw's within the congregation (hopefully there would be members of the church who work in law enforcement). very discreet and requests to carry unloaded piece though the rounds would be easily accessible and on his or her person.

  • Props, nice xanga site. The church thing is
scary, it feels like everyone and their mama has a gun
and a reason to shoot some random building full of people. :(
