  • A little clarification...

Opening Day hasn't come yet.  It was the "Opening Series" a marketing ploy by MLB to have some games played in Japan (which probbably watches as much if not more baseball than we do).  The real Opening Day is March 30, with the Braves playing the Nationals in Washington.  I am looking forward to this season.  Especially after my fantasy draft (which reminds me I still need to pay).  This year we went with an auction style draft.  A little different and a little more stressful.  I missed the first half of the draft due t browser issues, but I did make it for most of the second half.  I loged out towards the end because I was almost out of money and had all my positions filled.  Now to do some creative trading and FA pick ups.  I think this is going to be one of the more balanced years.

On a similar note I saw this:

    mlbinkor

Baseball is popular enough in Korea (and there are enough Korean players playing for Korean-Americans to care) that the MLB site can now be seen in Korean.  I remember when it was only available in Spanish, and then thanks to Nomo, Japanese.  This is really cool.

I need to get out to more games this season.  Only downside is I live Dallas.  That's another thing I miss about California, good sports teams.  More later.

  • Yes, this is a cool time of year.  I always enjoy going to baseball games.  I wish I could still afford season tickets. I had a mini package, (15 games), a few years ago, didn't cost too much, cuz I got a seat in left field, which ain't so bad a view, and if you love the game, you don't care where you sit.  anyway I was on the front row.  but because the foul pole was in front of me, I changed my seat a few seats over and thre rows up.  I once nabbed a homerun hit by A-Rod!  But being a nice guy, I gave the ball to a little kid who was at the game with his Mom.  Ya, the So-cal teams shold all be fairly good this year, Dodgers (my fav as a kid), Padres, Angel, should all have solid teams. The bay area tho, not so good. Giants, stink, and the A's have some young talent, but not enough and too soon - last place looms for both of them.  The Rangers, I actually believe they will be competitive this year, I didn't say they would compete with Angels and Mariners, but they will not be a doormate either.  should finnish about 500. They have a decent looking team, but the starting pitching will not be able to carry them thru the entiere season and will have its ups and downs along the way.  The rookie kid Mendoza from Mexico, looks good and Jason Jennigs looks like he may be back to being a place of having a lot of potential.  He is from Mesquite, so maybe playing at home will spark his talent again. The bullpen may be very solid though, and I think Ian Kinsler becomes a star in his own right this year, which gives them one of the best middle infields in baseball off and def with him and Michael Young. The outfield may also be solid.  Josh Hamilton is a great feel good story (he has a wonderful testimony of God's work in his life), if he contiues where he left off in Spring Training, he will be an MVP candidate, Marlon Byrd is also a nice looking young player.  Their are some very good looking minir league prospects that may make it up before the year is out. One thing that John Daniels has done, is he has rebuilt the farm system  well, John Hart made a mess of it and ruined the team as well in the process - and I am not referring to siging A-Rod, that wasn't a bad deal, not being able to keep him and build a team around him was a bad deal.  But all in all, you have the Braves and Phillies coming to town n June.  Yankees are her for 4 games in Aug and the BoSox come to town, oddly enough, in Sep as is alos the Tigers.

  • there are no good korean baseball players...

even though we mop up the competition in international play...can't seem to convert into good MLB players.

  • @joshx80 - I know.  They start out strong, and then just fizzle out.
