  • Weekend Update

Well, another one of my guy friends got married over the weekend.  This time around I was an usher (which I don't mind because after the actual ceremony there's nothing else to do).  So far I have been a groomsman twice and an usher four times.  That's six weddings that I have either been in or involved in.  And, now begins the week of introspection/self pity.

As I see my friends one by one get married or engaged; I admit, I get a little depressed.  I begin to wonder, when it will be my turn standing up there.  I get like this for a week or so, and then get over it.  Yes, there are some guys out there that do think like this; ladies you aren't alone on this one.  However, I am slowly learning to appreciate single-hood, and to not be too anxious about getting married.

I do have to say that I went way over my quota for the evening.  Here's the rundown (in order):  gin and tonic, gin and tonic, scotch and soda, champagne, scotch and soda, gin and tonic, scotch on the rocks.  Seven drinks total, that's five over my self imposed nightly limit.  I haven't drank that much since my days as a political hack/operator.  And yes, I paid for it the next day.
