    1.  Okay so a few of you want to hear my take on Spitzer.  This is going to be a little late, but some of you want to hear my take.  What can I say, he's an idiot.  He wanted to play, but he got caught doing it.  Now, I don't condone what he did, but it happens a lot in politics.  Most of the time people don't get caught, but once in a while they will get caught.  However, what the most pertinent issue is not the fact that an inpropriety was committed; but, how it was committed.  In Spitzer's case, how he screwed up is important.  Okay, it's one thing to pay for a prostitute; it's something else to pay for them to cross state lines.  Instead of breaking state laws that only have a fine attached to it; you are breaking federal laws which involve jail time.  Spitzer, will most likely go to prison, based on the evidence that has been released.  He did the right thing in resigning.  Fighting this would not have been beneficial to his career, nor would he have had a chance.  This is very different from Bill Clinton's deal.  Clinton didn't pay for anything, so no laws were broken in his case (he only perjured himself after the fact).  So, what is my conclusion?  If you're a politician and want to have a discrete relationship be smart, and find a way to either not pay for it or find a way to not have the payment linked to you.  Or better yet, don't, it's just the smarter thing to do.

     2.  In the next few weeks I will be launching my new blog.  Now, before you go and change your bookmark.  This blog will still be active.  The new blog will be dedicated to all things food.  It took me a while to come up with a title.  All the cutesy, play on words titles were taken, so I had some trouble coming up with a good title.  I finally settled on a title a few days ago.  The new blog will be called "The Gourmet Ranger."  Stay tuned for that.

I think this is pretty cool.  I really like the concept for transparent aluminum.  I also like the coffin shaped like a photon torpedo.  I'm sure there are some nerds out there that are drooling over the cloaking device and hyperdrive.  And since the Treat of Algeron (if you understand what that is, you're just as big a nerd as I am)hasn't been signed yet, it's okay to develop cloaking technology...for now.  I want a phaser!

    4.  For several weeks now both online and offline I have been saying that I am close to a decision.  Well, to tell the truth I have made a decision.  I just haven't worked up the courage to pull the trigger.

I don't think I can say anything more.

  • This is cool...

Korea's first astronaut is going to be a woman, a smart, good-looking (I think) woman.

  • Happy Pi Day!

Such a beautiful number.  I have a bet with another closet nerd to see who can remember the most places of pi.  I am a little behind.

  • Any of you MIT guys had this guy before?

I would appreciate a class like this.  I wish all my science classes were this fun.

  • In my desire to procrastinate...

I came across this article, while trying to avoid finishing up a research paper.  I found it to be very fascinating.  What I like are all the cool theories that they are trying to apply.  Some of those theories almost sound like they are out of Star Trek, but in fact Star Trek got the ides from those theories.  Now all we need is Zefram Cochrane to come around and develop warp technology.  We have the ability to create anti-matter, it's just a matter of creating a system to contain it.  Once that is figured out the rest should be easy.  If you can understand all that, you are just as big a nerd as I am.

This article was also interesting.  Makes me think twice about eating a fast food hamburger.  However, I have to question the validity of the experiment.  Think about it, for a burger to be preseved for that amount of time the chemical constant will have to be near poisonous levels.  Not to mention the near ideal conditions that would need to exist.  For one thing there would have to be low to little humidtiy to reduce the likely hood of spoilage and furthermore the temprature would need to remain stable to ensure no parasite and mildew growth.  Anybody willing to try this experiment.

I think for my next entry I will leave it to a vote.  Since asking for suggestions will lead to multiple ideas, I think giving a choice about you would like to hear about from me would be more prudent.  So here are the choices:

    A.  Food

    B.  Politics

    C.  Relationships or lack thereof

  • For those considering getting a MacBook Air...

When I first read this article I couldn't help laughing.  But, you have to think it does make sense.  I always liked the idea of a small and lightweight laptop, but I was always afraid I would misplace it or somehow lose it.  Which is why I have a six pound, 15.4 inch laptop (I would have gone with 17.4 inch screen, but it's tough to find cases for those).  But, I digress.  Like the author of this article states, I could see this as a regular occurrence.

  • Random Musings

    1.  Well, I got my car back yesterday.  I had to get the spark plugs, ignition wires, distributor rotor, and distributor cap replaced.  I also had my throttle assembly cleaned.  All told, the total damage was $397.12.  Not too bad given that it could have been worse.

    2.  Almost over my cold.  I just need to keep up the fluid intake.

    3.  Thinking about the future, and life in general is making me feel frustrated.

  • And You Thought I was a Nerd?

Now this has to be the most creative nerdy thing I have seen in a while.  This guy programed a game for the DS to propose.  Though I have thought of doing something like this, but seriously, how big of a nerd do you have to be?  I hope this girl appreciates how much time goes into programing.

  • This week is National Sleep Awareness Week

    http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/mm5708a4.htm

According to the website, I need seven to nine hours of sleep per night.  Lately, it's been more like three to four hours per night.  Why that is, well that's an entirely different post in itself.  But, back on point here.  Since this is National Sleep Awareness week, I encourage all of you to endeavour to get you seven to nine hours of sleep per night.

  • Interesting, Good or Disgusting? You decide.

I saw this on one of the food blogs that I occasionally peruse.  When I saw this I was at a loss of words.  My first thought who the heck is sick enough or down right screwed up to think this up.  Okay, sure I've gotten a little creative with food, but this...this is something else entirely.  I'm sure there is a sick mind out there that has thought of doing this.  But, to see someone actually do it, and DOCUMENT it for the world to see?  I still have to ask, "Why?"  Just look at the photos and read my captions.

Okay, it looks like we have a Large Size Two Cheeseburger Value Meal (2 Cheeseburgers and a large fries) minus the drink, a six piece Chicken McNuggets with Barbecue Sauce, a can of tomato sauce, a package of Mozzarella Cheese, and a Bobili pre-made pizza crust.  Pretty innocuous.

You put all that together, minus the cheese and you get this.

    McDPizza2

But wait it gets better.  Add the cheese and bake to get this.

Now, this next picture is somewhat curious.  However it does give some insight into the personality of the person that will make this.

Okay just a few thoughts on that last picture.  1.  That tea light is a nice touch.  2.  That is a Taurus 92, 9mm, a mediocre to average firearm.  3.  That looks like a Fabian Dagger, but I am not sure.  4.  Judging by the design of the Dr. Pepper bottle and the pistol, I would say that these were taken in the last 3-5 years.  5.  WHAT THE HELL IS THE TAPE MEASURE FOR???
