  • Feeling a little off...

I've been feeling a little off lately.  I don't know how to describe it.  Some of the things I enjoyed doing just don't seem enjoyable anymore.  Furthermore, I find my mind wandering at times.  It is a little disconcerting.  I really need to act upon something, but everytime I get ready to do so, the timing gets out of whack.  I need to really reevaluate my approach.

  • Back...

Okay, so I've returned from my trip to the occupied territory known as California (if you know me, then you know who it's occupied by).  I spent some time inside a giant magnet, weather it made my personality more magnetic, I don't know; but, I should know in a week or two the results of my Cyberknife treatment in August.  Hopefuly, it will be all good.  I had my fill of In-n-Out burger.  A 5x5 animal style, protien style with animal style well-done fries and a Neopolitan Shake really was really well worth the trip (if you have no idea what I just talked about, you probably haven't been to an In-n-Out or just not in the know).  Dim sum was very good as usual, I even got to use my Chinese.  Of course I had have my sushi, unfortunately sushi has become so popular and "chic" that all the good cheap places I knew are now packed and overpriced.  No Korean food this time around, but that's okay.  I wish I had more time so I could visit certain people, but that will have to wait for another time.

  • Stuck at the gate

I'm sitting here in the airplane at the gate waiting for the copilot/first officer to get here so the flight can leave.  It's a good thing that I am still in range to use the free wireless at the airport.  Well, they just annouced that the copilot has landed from and is on his way over here.  So my rant will be much more abreviated, thankfuly.  Till then be nice to each other.

  • These guys have a lot of guts

*Edit* For those that are having trouble understanding what's going on, let me explain.  That is a CH-53E helicpter.  It is the largest and heaviest helicopter in the US military, weighing in at 33,226 lbs empty.  In this video the forward landing bear has become stuck, so ground crew members are crawling underneath to free the landing gear.  The pilot in the mean time is keeping the bird tilted on the two rear landing gear on the deck of a carrier that is most likey in motion.  Now a mistake by either the pilot or one of the ground crew can turn this event very ugly.

  • Delayed Commentary

I had initially thought of writting a very vitriolic post regarding the burning of  남대문 (Namdaemun).  However, I held back to wait until more evidence was gathered.  As bad as it may sound, when I first heard about and read about it, my first reaction was it was probably the North Koreans.  So on Monday afternoon, I sat down at my computer getting ready to write, but I could not get the words outs.  Normally, I would have no problem being vitriolic and scathing in my commentary about Communists and the like.  This time, I just couldn't write anything.  What could I say?

I'm glad that I held back.  The latest news is that the authorites have a suspect in custody.  Apparently he is a 70 year old man that was upset over a land dispute, and has had a history of arson on national landmarks.  Well, now that we know who and the why, I will allow myself to become a little indignant and maybe a little vitriolic.  I say they hang this guy from 남산 (Namsan) tower.  Okay, I feel better now.

Right now, a lot of questions and fingers are being pointed over there.  And even I have to be a little critical somewhat.  The tactical response by the fire brigade was a little questionable.  They should have appoached the fire from the inside rather than the outside.  The security should have been much better.  I mean, think about it,  you declare something as the Number One National Treasure wouldn't you want to protect it.  There really is a lot of blame to go around, but that really os a moot point.  How can you replace something that has survived invasion after invasion, occupation, and constant bombing?  This structure was one of the few ancient buildings that was still stanidng after the Japanese ocupation and the Civil War (Korean War to Westerners).  They may rebuild it, but the history is lost.

  • Interesting...

Wow!  I did not expect Romney to drop out this early.  I was expecting him to drop out next month.  What I did expect however was him endorsing McCain.  But, he will be back in 2012.  I can almost garuntee it.  I think Huckabee will be droping out in March.  There's is just too much momentum behind McCain with Romney out of the picture.

On that note I was really impressed by his consession speech.  I know this was mentioned on Rush and a few other shows, but I have to say it as well.  The best political speeches are conssesion speeches.  For some reason they just have a quality that makes you go, "wow."

What's next, you ask?  Well, I don't think we can write of Huckabee just yet.  It will be interesting to see how he does in the next few primaries.  Depending on his performance, he may have the potential to be a VP nominee.  But, don't hold me to that, I am just speculating based on the notion that you need to win the South to have a chance at offsetting the North.

I will post more commentary after the TX primary.

  • Some thoughts...

    1.  For those of you who are curious as to what happens to all the Patriots 19-0/Super Bowl champions stuff that were made.  Don't worry they aren't going to be destroyed or thrown away.  They will be packed up and shipped to third-world countries ti be distributed out.  And in some cases may be usurped by an enterprizing spirit and sold to some delusional Patriots fans.

Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on your perspective) I couldn't find a place selling Patriots Super Bowl champions gear anywhere.  (But, then again I didn't look too closely)

    2.  Super Tuesday is over, and we still don't have a clear winner.  Now this is how a primary is supposed to be like.  Candidates slugging it out on the campaign trail.  I have never had this much fun tracking election results in a long time.  On the Dems side it will be a fight to the finish.  I think that match-up will turn ugly in mid to late February in preparation for the March primaries.  I don't think there will be a clear victor after March, and the fight will go all the way to June.  And even then there may not be a clear victor with enough delegates.  So, based on how polling looks in the next several months you will either see an all out fight, or the start of a back room deal.  However, I highly doubt Obama is going to want a back room deal.  This race will come down to the wire and most likely will not be resolved until the convention.

On the republican side, well that's a whole different story.  Romney and my guy Huckabee have proved that they will not go down without a fight.  Winning CA and NY were big for McCain, and that does give him some momentum.  Unfortunately, with key votes being split between Romney and Huckabee it will be hard to get either one to conceede especially if the final tallies from last night hold.  I don't see either one backing down.  But, the one guy that needs to drop out is Paul.  Talk about beating a dead horse, he has consistently come in last and garnered only a small percentage of the vote.I just don't see him droping out of the race.  Honestly, I think he will stay in it straight to the convention.  As for the top three, well let's just say TX just became very important.  depending on what happens in the next few primaries, we may see either Huckabee or Romney drop out.  However, I just don't see that happening.

    3.  You got to do, what you got to do.

  • Giants Win The Super Bowl

I think the title says it all.  Five sacks on Brady, let's here it for the Giants' front four.  They should be the MVPs of the game tonight.

Seeing this was well worth it.

  • Middle of the week commentary

Well I think I am over my sickness.  I don't know what it was but, I was really miserable.  I went to see the witch doctors here at the school infirmary, on Monday.  The doctor said it was most likely a virus and that the only that I could do was let it run its course and take medication.  Tuesday I was feeling better, so I went out to eat with a new guy (well relatively new) at church.  We had a pretty good talk, about church, Dallas, and just life in general.  He's a pretty neat guy, and what's funny is that we met each other before almost 14 years ago, when we were both living in California.  It's a small world after all.

Went bowling last night.  What a disaster.  I never broke a hundred.  I think my body hasn't fully recovered from being sick.  Maybe I just need to get my own ball?  Maybe I should just stick to golf?

I am coming close to making a very big decision.
